About
Me
Kia Ora, my name is Amanda Pene I was born and
breed in the Manawatu. I am a registered midwife who completed Bachelors
of Midwifery in Palmerston North. I live in Palmerston North with
my husband and two beautiful children. Since the birth of my daughter
10 years ago I dreamed of becoming a midwife; I believe that this
was the path for me.
I love empowering women and family/whanau to birth naturally and enjoy
being apart of their journey to parenthood. Midwifery for me is a
privilege and an honour and this can never be forgotten. I am currently
working out of Midwifery Care with a number of independent midwives
and enjoy their support. I work closely with another Maori
midwife Kendra Mackey and together we provide
continuity of care.
My
Philosophy
I have a simple philosophy that I believe is essential in providing
midwifery care for women and family/whanau....promote the normal and
provide continuity of care. Normal birth is were we should be aiming;
and by taking a recommended case-load by the College of Midwives I
attempt to empower women/whanau to embrace what their tipuna/ancestors
have done for many years. Having two children I understand the huge
impact midwifery care has on us; so I endeavour to provide the best
care I can to make pregnancy labour and birth positive.
Partnership is essential and for me partnership is the cornerstone
of my practice. It takes both parties to obtain the optimum results
and we both have to form a partnership to trust, empower, educate
and honour each other. Partnership allows continuity of care and through
continuity a bond develops and a journey is shared. I look forward
to being apart of your journey.
